In a divorce modification, either spouse may petition the court to grant a post-divorce modification because of a substantial change in circumstances. Changes may be related to spousal support, to child support issues or to custody and visitation issues.
At the Beverly Hills, California, Mansouri Law Offices, we represent clients who seek modifications for reasons that, include:
- A significant increase or decrease in income, job demands or other life circumstances
- A serious illness or an addiction that affects a parent's ability to parent in a healthy manner
- A serious illness on the part of the children requiring extensive medical care
- A criminal matter in which one of the parents has been involved
- Difficulties in the custody arrangement that are substantially affecting the child
- Relocation to other states or countries
In many situations, former spouses are able to work out the modification on their own without resorting to an attorney. However, there are times when a person needs the authority, knowledge and skills of an experienced trial lawyer to help navigate through a difficult process.
Enforcement Resource
Unless modified, a spouse must pay child support and follow parenting plans for as long as dictated by the divorce decree. If you have not been receiving child support payments or access to your children according to the divorce decree, we can file an enforcement action with the court to help resolve your enforcement concern.
